  • Okay okay, you caught me.

I’ve been cheating, and I’m not proud of it.  I tried to be faithful, but, it’s just so haarrrd.  I, have been eating chicken… and even a little pork.  I hadn’t had ribs in years, and after being around them for a while, I caved.  Had me some baby-backs fresh off the smoker.  So freaking good.  But instantly tummy-assaulting.  I still haven’t had beef(two and a half years) because it’s just not worth the pain.  Now, I’m stopping, for REAL.  No more pork, no more chicken or turkey.  Even at the holidays.  No more.  I’m sticking to a pescaterian diet, and this time I will not falter.  I’m gonna have B-ran to keep me honest, and I’m going to be far more proactive about finding and testing recipes, and I will be more adventurous when it comes to “trying new things”.  So, here’s to sticking to my decisions and not backing down when it comes to my own health and happiness.

  • Storms

So we had a bit of a storm tonight.  Tornado’s and tornado warnings abound in the area.  Tried to take my dog on a potty walk, ended up running to my mother-in-laws when we saw the sky start to swirl quite literally right above our heads.  It promptly started pouring as we were running and by the time we crossed the drive-way and got inside, we were soaked.  We were joined in the basement by KoBachs family and the power went out about 10 minutes later.  This all went down around 6-6:30 PM.  The power was restored at 9:30 PM.  Oh joy.  On the bright side, talking and hanging out with nothing but candle-light is kind of fun.

Sorry about the long-ass break.  Hopefully we’ll be filming another ep of Nomming tomorrow, as settling in to our new place took longer then we thought, and we just got pulled in too many direction.  Now that things are calming down, we should be able to set up a rough schedule and crank some out.  Two episodes have been drafted and another is in the works, so with something to go by,barring unforeseen events, like the weather(I mean, hello, it IS nebraska!), or a family emergency(my 3 year old nephew had his first seizure last night!), we should be back on track soon!  But don’t hold me to that, as I’ve been know to get excited only to have things fall apart in a matter of minutes(true story).  Well, that’s it for now, have a great weekend!

I’ve put up a site for my photography at http://brandonengel.com/. Check it out when you have a spare minute or two. Kind of sparse on the photos for now but much more to come.

  • Really?

    Gret 7:30 AM on 12/04/2010 | 0 Permalink

Yes, we’re still on hiatus, but I just needed to vent, because people on a forum I frequent are being putzes.  People who try to talk about something they know little(or nothing) about, really irk me. Seriously, if you don’t know, with out a doubt, don’t give out medical* or dietary advice, don’t try to lecture someone about personal choices if you don’t know the reasons behind them, and don’t think you’re better than me because of your choices.  Consider this, not all meat/dairy/eggs are bad for you, the planet, or the animals they come from.  Family farms are amazing places when run properly, and both the family running it, and the animals living on it, benefit tremendously.
*note: this is permissible when a non life-threatening situation is presented, like suggesting someone put baking soda on a fresh bug bite.
